BFF Challenge: Animal Print

Who doesn't love a good animal print? ;)  Kerrie chose todays theme, and I haven't posted animal print to my blog in a while, so I am excited!

For the base of this mani I used Zoya Minka, followed by dots of China Glaze Foie Gras, and the accent nail of Sinful Colors Snow me White.  I then finished off with acrylic paint for around the spots for the cheetah print, and the zebra print.  Some of my favorite freehand nail art has been Cheetah Print, and I really love using my nail art brush. i used the long haired brush, and it works great!

I think I forgot to put topcoat on, and you can definitely tell a difference, between topcoat and not! Topcoat makes it soooooooo much more shiny!

Neon Swatch Wheel!

So if you have been following me on instagram(I'm Caitlinspolish if you want to follow me. :)), you got a sneak peek of this awesome swatch wheel I have been working on the past two days.  You can kind of see my train of thought for the wheel with my photos leading up to it. lol. 

Lets start with the inspiration post.  I had on some neon shorts from the walk my mom and I did yesterday morning, and my sister had some highlighters and pencils in the door of the car, and I snapped a picture and posted it...

Then the instagram post of my haul from Sally's and Walgreens that day.  I bought my first swatch wheels for nail art at Sallys and I got the 3 neon Sinful Colors from Walgreens.  I am really loving these neons, and for $2 you can't beat them,  they were opaque in 2 coats.

Now onto the swatch wheel. I absolutely <3 this swatch wheel.   I used the 3 neon Sinful Colors Neon Melon, Summer Peach, and Pink.  I also used Acrylic paint, and some Wet N Wild Black Creme for the ones that I used striping tape on. 

All of them are freehand. I am pretty proud of these, I have to say.

The names of the colors are Neon Melon, Summer Peach, and Pink, and they were all from the Sinful Colors Display.  I managed to snap a picture of the display before I left, in case you are curious.

I am pretty proud of these. <3 What do you think?

Stamping Sunday: Unnatural Animal Print

Today for Sunday Stamping, the theme was unnatural animals. Sooo i did a green and blue zebra. ;)

I used Zoya Mitzi as the base, and stamped with Kleancolor Metallic Sapphire, and my Salon Express plate. I didn't use a topcoat, because i wanted the zoya matte to stay matte. :)

Revlon Carbonite with CC Cold Metal stamp

 I decided to do some nail stamping with my plate. :)

This is Revlon Carbonite with Color Club Cold Metal stamped on.

Yes the Revlon looks a little gold in some pics, but that is just the lighting.

Day 17 - SH Diamond

For todays untried I have Sally Hansen Nail Prisms in Diamond.  It came in the pack with Ruby Diamond.  This one was the non-holographic version, and I think that my pictures do it more justice than it deserves, because it does not look this holographic to me unless it is in direct sunlight.

This is one layer of Diamond over Wet N Wild Ebony Hates Chris.

And I like to do nail art on my manis so I decided to do a zebra print with my black striper! I think that it is an easy to get cool designs.

Cheetah Print Tutorial

This is a video tutorial I made a while back. It's very basic Cheetah print nails.  I hope it is easy to  understand.   To help better understand I have typed them up below if you decide to paint yours too!


What you need:
3 polish colors
dotting tool or toothpick
top coat

First pick out 3 colors that you want to use.  In the video I wen for a nude polish with neutral accent colors in order to have a classic look.  I have also used neons which was awesome too. (the colors I use are Zoya Minka, Color Club Give me a Hint, and Sally Hansen Black out.

The first step is obviously to paint the base color first.

Next you choose your first accent color which for me was a neutral purple tone.  You place random dots on the nail, it doesn't matter if some of them touch, or if some are bigger than others.  This gives it character. :)

After you have your cheetah dots on the nail you take your third color and get a tad on the tip of the dotting tool.  You place the third color on the outside of the circles you painted on your nails in a half moon shape. You don't have to be perfect with it.  Just paint the half moons on either side and on the ones around them do them perpendicular to the first one.  You don't have to have them all the same way or direction it looks better when they aren't. 

Once they dry put a top coat on to seal it.

I hope this helps.  I am by no means an expert, and my skills at describing them are not the best, I hope I got the point across. lol
