ColorWorkshop from Dollar Tree

I went to the Dollar Tree today looking for glow in the dark nail polish and I saw Color Workshop polishes in a pack of 3.  The colors looked kinda promising, so i thought I'd give it a shot.  if atleast one was good then it is worth it.  for only $1 i decided to go for it.  If I dont like them I can use them for frankens.  lol

It came with a charcoal grey, a metallic-y pink, and a peachy looking color.  I have the swatches for you if you are interested in these or my opinion. :P

This is the charcoal grey.  Two coats, with the tips flooded, because of the weird application.  I am kind of "meh" about this polish.   It is streaky, the color is uninteresting, and it doesn't stamp well.  I am thinking this is going into my franken pile.

The next was a pink metallic-y color.  It is a pretty rosey pink. This is 3 coats.  application was how i was expecting(not the best for a 33 cent polish.) but I think layered this color wouldn't be that bad. I didn't try to stamp with it, but my guess is it wont stamp well either. lol

Of the three this is my favorite.  I don't normally like sheer polishes, but this one caught my eye.  This is three coats, and as you can see it is still sheer.  This is definitely a layering color.  As I was applying it I kept thinking about some cool gradients I could do with this polish, and I think it has potential. waaaaay too shear to stamp.

All in all I think that they are sub-par, but I am still happy with them.  I also found one blue glow in the dark polish and some Sally Hansen nail clippers that keep the clippings in on my bargain hunt today. :)

Purple Crumpet Fairy Challenge Most hated polish

A few weeks ago I joined a group on Facebook called the Purple Crumpet Fairy Challenge.  It was created by Debbie Crumpet(of The Crumpet) and Claire Gallaugher (of Purple Fairy Dust).  This week's challenge was to post a pic of your most hated polish.

I hate to admit this, but the polish that is my most hated is China Glaze Lubu Heels.  I think that it is too thin, the glitter does not stand out from the black, and it leaves my nails really gritty.  Its to the point that I don't even want to put a top coat on because I just automatically remove it after I took this swatch.

I really just don't like this polish...

What do you guys think? what is your most hated polish?

Essie - Shine of the Times - Luxeffects

OK so today I strolled into a walgreens on my way home looking for the Essie Luxeffects and guess what I found.... Essie Luxeffects!!

The one that I bought is called Shine of the Times.  It is an amazing duochrome flakie that flashes red-orange-green.

This is one coat over Wet N Wild Black Creme.

just look for yourself....

She is supposed to be a dupe of Nubar 2010 and Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure (neither of which I own unfortunately)  This is the first duo-flakie I own and I am LOVING it.

What do you think?

Days 25 & 26 of untrieds.

OK, So to catch back up I am going to show you two new untrieds, the first is Cosmetic Arts burgundy(it really has no name, this is just the color).  The next is a glitter over top that I just got today! it is NYX Girls Gilded Glitter.

I love anything by Forsythe Cosmetics.  They are the makers of Color Club and Cosmetic Arts.  (also Funky Fingers which can be found at 5below)  This burgundy/garnet is beautiful.  This is 3 coats.

This is NYX Girls Gilded Glitter. It is an AMAZING gold flakie. I got it for only $1, and for that price, I may go back to get more.  It kind of reminds me of the new gold Essie As Gold as it Gets, but I think that Gilded Glitter has more/bigger gold flakie chunks in it. Maybe someone can compare?  I don't normally purchase alot of Essie.

Top 5 (OK... top 6) Polishes in my Collection

So today I have my top 5 polishes of all time. It is really 6, because 2 are tied for 4th place.

Here they are!

#5 : China Glaze Westside Warrior

The name on my bottle has started to rub off as you can see, but this is still a great color.  When I finally found this in sally's I had to get it.  :) and it hasn't let me down since. ;)

#4 (a TIE!)   China Glaze Electric Pineapple and For Audrey

These two are staples in my collection.  Electric pineapple has a backup and for Audrey will be getting one as soon as I run out.  These are my two go-to colors if I can't decide what to do!

# 3 - Blue Cross Pumpkin polish in black and silver glitter

You can see how much I have used of this baby.  I absolutely love this stuff.  Ever since my last post about it I haven't put any more on because I don't want to waste it!  It looks really awesome.  I got this to fix my lemming for Tangled in my Web from Wet N Wild when I couldn't find it, and this one is just fantastic. :)

# 2 - Color Club Warhol

This is the most amazing hot pink I own.  This color along with its sisters in the Poptastic collection blow my mind.  It is amazingly neon! It literally glowed on my nails. This color is what made me fall IN LOVE with Color Club, and now they are my all time favorite polish company! I would recommended their polish to anyone.

#1!  Sally Hansen Nail Prisms in Ruby Diamond

Of course I had to have my only linear holographic polish here!  This one is my all time favorite, and I will only wear it on special occasions! I absolutely love how linear the holographic pigments are, and I even bought another pack just for this beauty. ;)

I actually I do have swatches of most of these, so feel free to browse my blog. ;)

What are your favorite polishes??

home week haul!

This week was Thanksgiving, so of course I went black Friday shopping.  This is the stuff I have gathered this week.

On Wednesday when we were on our way home we dropped by target and I picked up the Burt's Bees Cuticle Cream.  When I got back to my hometown I got the OPI set at the top from TJ Maxx.  It has 2 polishes from the Texas Collection - Yall Come Back now ya Hear? and Too Hot Pink to Handle - along with a small bottle of AvoPlex lotion and the OPI top coat - all for $10!

On Friday (yes Black Friday!) all I got was the Wet N Wild Black Creme polish.  (we did get my Sister and Nana a laptop though!)

Today we drove to Simpsonville and I got the Cosmetic Arts garnet polish from Ross and China Glaze Near Dark from Sallys.  While we were there I found those Chupa Chups.  My all time favorite sucker. I have been searching for them in the US for the past 3 years, and we went to an old five and dime store and they had a bucket of suckers.  needless to say I bought them out.

Did you get any good deals this weekend?

Comparison! Chartreuse

So for this comparison I decided to show you guys one of my all time favorite colors.  which is why I have so many of this color to show you.  I am always on the hunt for a perfect version of this shade.

Meet Chartreuse.  I just love that name. And the color. It is just so unique. :)

It is a lovely green/yellow that I think is really cool. Yes the photo is blurry and pixelated, but I think it captured my point pretty well regarding the colors and other properties.

The first one-which is on the index and pinky- is OPI Fiercely Fiona.  This one is more yellow than the other two, and It is decent.  In the photo the index has 3 coats of FF and the pinky has 2 coats.  I found that this was too sheer for my liking but I still use it as a layering color.

The next one was China Glaze Electric Pineapple.  this was 3 coats and it is perfectly opaque(I could have did 2 coats and got by, but I i wanted to compare it to what was next to it).  This one is definitely my favorite, because I hate sheer polishes.  I even have a backup bottle when it was on clearance. lol

The final polish I have here is Milani Totally 80's which is from their neon collection.  I absolutely hate this polish.  It was one of my first greens, and shown here is 4 coats.  YES  I said 4 COATS. It is still streaky and you can obviously see the visible nail line.  this polish is terrible and I haven't bought any Milani since, but I think I am going to cave and get those holos soon. ;)

What do you think?  Do you own any of these colors?

Day 24 - Cosmetic Arts no-name

I know I am a little behind, but it is pretty understandable with the holidays.  Yes, We did wait in line on thursday in order to get 2 laptops, and yes I did witness a few fights.

Anyways on to this polish: This is a Cosmetic Arts polish that I picked up at Ross, It doesn't have a name, and at first I thought It may be a dupe to my much loved Warhol (because they are made by the same company as Color Club).  too bad it wasn't, but it still was very pretty.

You can see here how they compare.  Warhol is much more pink, whereas the CA is a tad more orange.

Day 23 - Hard Candy Beetle

Here is another post to make up for my being late.  I promise that this was unexpected.  I had a few car troubles when i was on my way home for thanksgiving, which was a minor setback.

This is Hard Candy Beetle.  It is nothing new. but it is an amazing duochrome that can be found at Walmart.  Check it out.

Day 22- OPI DS Reserve

Sooo I am running a little late with these posts, which is understandable because of the holidays.  :P

Today I have OPI DS Reserve for you.  yes, take in this beauty.  It is a very dusty pink with subtle hologrpahic shimmer.

on to the swatches!  I believe that the first picture is the most color accurate, the second and third show the holographic glitter.

Day 20 of Untrieds - CG Haunting

Day 20 of my untrieds is Haunting by China Glaze from the Halloween 2011 collection.  It is in my untrieds because I got in on clearance right after halloween at sallys for $2!  I absolutely love this color.  It is shown in 2 coats  with no top coat.  Yes the glitter is chunky to the touch, but I don't really mind it. I have read from ladies on PolishAholics Anonymous that Gelous from Sallys works well on top of "hungry" glitter, I have yet to try it.

the first pic is fine, the last 3 I have lobster hands, but they captured the glitter very well in the photo.

do you have this polish? What do you think?

day 19 - Glitz Gal

For todays untried I chose Sally Hansen Glitz Gal from the Gem Crush collection.  I put this mani over Jitterbug from yesterday, and I think that I was able to get away with one coat of this glitter, because the base was basically the same color!

I was actually surprised when I opened it up to find a fat brush like this, and as you can see mine was kind of wonky. it was shaped weird, but maybe that is just my brush.

anyway I hope you all are having a good day!

Comparison Post!

Today's comparison post is China Glaze For Audrey and Color Club New Bohemian.

I say that these two are exact dupes, but everyone has their opinion! I'm just here to show you my swatches.  :)

This is 2 coats of For Audrey and 3 coats of New Bohemian.  There was a tad difference in the formula, For Audrey went on more opaque on the first coat, and was completely opaque in the second. New Bohemian had a sheer first coat, but the second gave great coverage and the third was amazing.

I was surprised to find that these two were so similar, because I have read on other blogs that they were a little different. It just makes me happy because my China Glaze is half empty! :P
