Guest Post: Jeni from Polish Me Lovely!!

I asked Jeni from Polish Me lovely to do a guest post for me, and she has done an amazing job, Just look below.  Thanks so much Jeni for this amazing post!

"Color Club Wild at Heart

Hi everyone, I'm Jeni, from Polish Me Lovely. This is my first guest post and I am honored to be posting on the lovely Caitlin's beautiful blog!! She has such flawless nails and very creative nail art!! Love her :)

I recently purchased Color Club Wild at Heart and Fashion Addict at 8ty8beauty.com and I am in LOVE. They have a very light holo effect to them in certain lighting and it is just gorgeous! Wild at Heart completely blew me away as soon as it touched my nails!! It is almost a one coater! The shade of deep purple with a beautiful reddish holo shimmer in sunlight, is just GORGEOUS and the formula is absolutely flawless.

I decided to try out my new dotting tools, and used a few different sizes for the randomly placed dots on my accent nail. I used Fashion Addict for the dots, and then went back over the bigger dots with Wild at Heart to make them look more like bubbles. I love it!!!

My husband took these pictures for me with his awesome Nikon camera! Now I never want to use anything else!!

Thanks for having me Caitlin!! :)

-Jeni"

The Lion King

Ok, so This is going to be the first in a series of Wednesday Broadway Mani's.  Broadway is something that I love dearly, so every Wednesday from now until I run out musicals, I am going to do freehand nail art dedicated to one Musical in particular. This week is Lion King.

(I may at times use a stamper, if I find that the stamper would be perfect for the theme that I am doing, because obviously any stamp is going to be much cleaner than freehand. also I will not name the polishes that I used, because there will be alot. lol.  I also may use acrylic paint. )

Onto the Nails:

Here's a Health Carolina

So, I am a psychology student at the University of South Carolina, so I decided to do a Carolina Funky French! :)

For this mani I used a Garnet Cosmetic Arts polish. I then stamped on Sally Hansen Silver Sweep with RA101.

 South Carolina Gamecocks.  Our logo:

Last year I was a part of the Colorguard in the band at USC and here a few pictures from it:

I also rushed Tau Beta Sigma.

Monday Mani Challenge: Ombre

So in PAA the Monday Mani challenge this week is Ombre nails.  These are my favorite ombre nails that I have done so I decided to recreate them for this challenge.

I used Color Club Almost Famous as the Base.
Color Club Wham Pow! as the orange.
Color Club Warhol as the pink tips.
And topped it off with KleanColor Chunky Holo Purple glitter!

Here you can really see the green in the glitter show up! The chunky Holo set has an awesome duo-glitter finish.

Stamping Sunday: Stars(Galaxy Nails)

For stamping sunday in the Adventures of Stamping group, we were supposed to do stars.  I unfortunately do not have any star stamps. :( so I decided to do a Nebula! or galaxy nails, or whatever you would like to call it!

And this is kind of a tutorial, it shows you how I achieved the Galaxy Nails!

First step: Paint them black. ( I used Wet N Wild Ebony Hates Chris)

Second Step: I stamped on KleanColor Metallic Sapphire using plate RA 107.

Third Step: I sponged on white in different directions. I used Wet N Wild French White Creme  (as you can see, the Metallic Sapphire soaked up the white, but I think that it looks really cool)

Fourth Step: I used a really tiny paint brush and added dots for stars.

Fifth Step: I added Finger Paints Twisted.

Sixth Step i added Funky Finger Sand and Stilettos to the edges of the white.

Lastly I went back and sponged black on top of the white to mute it a little bit.

I really like the way my galaxy nails came out! What do you think?

Blue Stamping

I really love my Red Angel image plates so much, and this is another cool image from them!

The colors used are a Blue Cosmetic Arts polish(I really like this blue polish!), and Color Club Cold Metal as the stamping polish.  I used Red Angel plate RA112.

Psych Week: Brown

 By request Here is brown:

"Solid, reliable brown is the color of earth and is abundant in nature. Light brown implies genuineness while dark brown is similar to wood or leather. Brown can also be sad and wistful. Men are more apt to say brown is one of their favorite colors."

The brown I have here is 212 Sephora from Sephora by OPI.  I got this one with the Sephora gift card that they sent out in an email in November.  When I was looking through my stash for a good brown to show you, I realized I don't own many browns... I will have to fix that. :P

PS I'm going to be playing around with my light source in order to remove glare, and I am going to speak to my photography teacher about camera settings and stuff, so hopefully my photos will improve!

Psych Week: Red + Shatter

On to the next color: Red

"The most emotionally intense color, red stimulates a faster heartbeat and breathing. It is also the color of love. Red clothing gets noticed and makes the wearer appear heavier. Since it is an extreme color, red clothing might not help people in negotiations or confrontations. Red cars are popular targets for thieves. In decorating, red is usually used as an accent. Decorators say that red furniture should be perfect since it will attract attention."

What better to show you than a perfect red. I used Finger Paints Curators Crimson.  It came in a set from Sallys with a purple and a small bag.

This week in PAA the challenge was Crackle, so to Jazz this red up a little bit I added a Silver crackle from OPI called Silver Shatter.  I believe it was released with the Pirates of the Caribbean set originally, or atleast that is what was out with it when I picked it up from my JC Pennys.

I applied it quite thick, because my bottle is getting old from air exposure, so the bottle rim is caked with the polish, and was hard to open at first.  but the Shatter still came through. :)

Psych Week of Colors: Green

I know I'm a little behind, but with classes starting it doesn't exactly make this easy. lol

Here it is: Green

"Currently the most popular decorating color, green symbolizes nature. It is the easiest color on the eye and can improve vision. It is a calming, refreshing color. People waiting to appear on TV sit in "green rooms" to relax. Hospitals often use green because it relaxes patients. Brides in the Middle Ages wore green to symbolize fertility. Dark green is masculine, conservative, and implies wealth. However, seamstresses often refuse to use green thread on the eve of a fashion show for fear it will bring bad luck."

I am using Nubar Reclaim.  I ordered this with my amazon giftcard, and boy am I happy with my purchase.  It is an amazing green linear holographic polish.  and I mean AMAZING.

Here she is!

I just love that rainbow.

Psych Week of Colors: Blue

To continue my Color Psychology week I am using Blue.

Blue:
"The color of the sky and the ocean, blue is one of the most popular colors. It causes the opposite reaction as red. Peaceful, tranquil blue causes the body to produce calming chemicals, so it is often used in bedrooms. Blue can also be cold and depressing. Fashion consultants recommend wearing blue to job interviews because it symbolizes loyalty. People are more productive in blue rooms. Studies show weightlifters are able to handle heavier weights in blue gyms."

And my blue polish for today:

China Glaze First Mate with Finger Paints Motley.

Psych Week of Colors: Yellow

I know I said yesterday that I was going to do white today, but I felt like doing yellow. :)

Yellow:
"Cheerful sunny yellow is an attention getter. While it is considered an optimistic color, people lose their tempers more often in yellow rooms, and babies will cry more. It is the most difficult color for the eye to take in, so it can be overpowering if overused. Yellow enhances concentration, hence its use for legal pads. It also speeds metabolism."

And now on to the swatches! I actually am figuring out my way around my new DSLR Camera, and I think these came out quite nicely! I am taking a photography course, so I am really excited about how it will impact my photographs!

The yellow is a Cosmetic Arts polish from Ross. It reminds me of Almost Famous, so I will have to do a post on them.
The black is Black Creme as always.
And the Image Plate is Konad M73.

Psych Week of Colors: Black

Somehow I stumbled upon a color psychology website, and so I decided I wanted to do a week of colored mani's and give the description of the color from the website.

As a psychology major, I thought this would be a cool thing for me to do since school this week. :)

First up: Black.

"Black is the color of authority and power. It is popular in fashion because it makes people appear thinner. It is also stylish and timeless. Black also implies submission. Priests wear black to signify submission to God. Some fashion experts say a woman wearing black implies submission to men. Black outfits can also be overpowering, or make the wearer seem aloof or evil. Villains, such as Dracula, often wear black."

And what color is more perfect to show you today than Black Tie? :)

This is Sally Hansen Black Tie. It is a beautiful black duochrome that flashes purple to teal and has a black/grey base.

And when I turned the flash on look who decided to show their face:

And a bottle shot because I love you all. This is Stellare Notte vs Black Tie.  They are almost identical. I feel a comparison post coming on...

Thats all for now folks!
