For Audrey Chevron

One of the first polishes I ever remember purchasing is China Glaze For Audrey. I remember looking up swatches and knowing instantly that I had to have it.  For Audrey was my very first polish purchase as a polishaholic that I remember. It was my gateway polish! lol

For Audrey is such a fantastic color, and is a staple in my collection.  No matter how many polishes I have that are a similar color, For Audrey is still the one that comes to mind.

Today's nail art is very simple using striping tape over For Audrey to create a chevron design on the accent nail.  I used Wet N Wild Black Creme as the black polish in the design.

Every time I wear For Audrey I get compliments! This is a classic design for a classic color. I love it!

Striping Tape over Acid Wash Nails

For this mani, I used the previous mani (seen here) and used striping tape and Wet N Wild Black Creme to create the design. I really love using striping tape, you can create so many cool designs.  :)

The colors used in the base are: Illamasqua Poke, Zoya Bevin, and Color Club Sweet Pea

Stripes Revisited

Before I took off the previous striped mani, I wanted to see what else i could do with it, so I went back to the striping tape.  This is what came from it, and I kind of like it even better than the original.

The under polishes are stated in this post, and I just took more striping tape and went the opposite direction and painted with Wet N Wild Black Creme over it.

Hello Kitty Nail Art!

Rebecca from Rebecca Likes Nails is hosting a nail art contest!

"THE THEME:
My favorite things! I want you to create a manicure that you think I'd love, using my favorite nail art techniques or themes, which are: gradients, animal print, bows, dots, and Hello Kitty.
Create your manicure using one (or more!) of those 5 ideas, and submit it.
Your design doesn't have to be limited to these ideas but just make sure at least one is included somewhere.
Feel free to go back through my posts and take inspiration from them!"

I chose Hello Kitty and Animal Print!

I did a Cheetah print on all of the nails except the ring finger, and I used dotting tools to freehand the hello kitty head onto my nails.

The colors used:

Color Club Poptastic - background
Color Club Hot Like Lava - inside of cheetah and HK Bow
Wet N Wild French White Creme - HK
Wet N Wild Black Creme - details
and as I stated above I used my new dotting tools from ebay!

What do you think of them? Are you entering the contest?

Stamping Sunday: Stars(Galaxy Nails)

For stamping sunday in the Adventures of Stamping group, we were supposed to do stars.  I unfortunately do not have any star stamps. :( so I decided to do a Nebula! or galaxy nails, or whatever you would like to call it!

And this is kind of a tutorial, it shows you how I achieved the Galaxy Nails!

First step: Paint them black. ( I used Wet N Wild Ebony Hates Chris)

Second Step: I stamped on KleanColor Metallic Sapphire using plate RA 107.

Third Step: I sponged on white in different directions. I used Wet N Wild French White Creme  (as you can see, the Metallic Sapphire soaked up the white, but I think that it looks really cool)

Fourth Step: I used a really tiny paint brush and added dots for stars.

Fifth Step: I added Finger Paints Twisted.

Sixth Step i added Funky Finger Sand and Stilettos to the edges of the white.

Lastly I went back and sponged black on top of the white to mute it a little bit.

I really like the way my galaxy nails came out! What do you think?

Psych Week of Colors: Yellow

I know I said yesterday that I was going to do white today, but I felt like doing yellow. :)

Yellow:
"Cheerful sunny yellow is an attention getter. While it is considered an optimistic color, people lose their tempers more often in yellow rooms, and babies will cry more. It is the most difficult color for the eye to take in, so it can be overpowering if overused. Yellow enhances concentration, hence its use for legal pads. It also speeds metabolism."

And now on to the swatches! I actually am figuring out my way around my new DSLR Camera, and I think these came out quite nicely! I am taking a photography course, so I am really excited about how it will impact my photographs!

The yellow is a Cosmetic Arts polish from Ross. It reminds me of Almost Famous, so I will have to do a post on them.
The black is Black Creme as always.
And the Image Plate is Konad M73.

The Cure for the Wingless RA Fairies!

OK, so I know alot of ladies have been dissappointed with the fairies on the Red Angel plates not having wings, so I wanted to do a post where I give them wings! And I have just that for you today!

As I show you in a previous post, there are 2 Red Angel plates that the fairies do not have wings.  here is a photo as a reminder:

As a result of a computer malfunction(Im assuming) the fairies are wingless, so they look like dancing girls.

The remedy I have for that is double stamping.

I used HALF of the butterfly on the Red Angel plate RA119, and the Fairy body from RA113, and this is what happened!

I think that it turned out really cool.

I used Wet N Wild Black creme as the base, and Sally Hansen Silver Sweep as the stamping polish.

How to get this look:
  • Choose a very well pigmented stamping color that you know works well.
  • Stamp the fairy body FIRST!
  • if you have a double ended stamper, the small end works great for the butterfly wing, if not, just carefully place the middle part of the wing close to the fairy body.
  • Please note: this will take a few tries to get right.  it took me about 10 tries to figure out the right position of the fairy body and about 10 more to get the wings to match up, but once you figure out the position it is well worth it to end up with pretty fairies with pretty wings!!
I hoped this helps some people out, especially the ones who are heartbroken from not getting fairies with wings.  These things happen, and when they do we can just make them better! :)

I personally like the way my wings turned out better than the fairies that already have wings.. But that is just my opinion!

Walmart Stampng Experiment

Ok so I wanted to try to use my new stamper/scraper/polish set from WalMart.

(Warning lots of words!)

This is a picture that I had on the previous blog post, and this is a comparison of the size of the stampers. They are the same size.

Ok, For this post I used a base of Wet N Wild Black Creme.

I used 2 types of polish to compare, and the two stampers to compare.

On the Pinkie finger: White Flirt polish that came in the pack and stamped with new Pink Stamper

On the Ring finger: White Flirt polish that came in the pack and stamped with the Purple Double Ended stamper.

On the middle finger: Wet N Wild French White Creme and stamped with the new Pink stamper

On the Index finger: Wet N Wild French White Creme and stamped with the Purple double ended stamper.

so it goes: pinkstamp-Flirt, purplestamp-Flirt, Pinkstamp-WnW, Purplestamp-WnW

In conclusion:

I tried the scraper, and I personally don't like it. I will continue to use my gift card. I'm sure it is fine, I just have to get used to using it, and right now I prefer the gift card.

Both of the stampers work the same.  And I believe are of similar quality.  although I needed to buff the pink stamper before I picked up the image, which is common with most stampers.

In regard to the Flirt stamping polish, I believe it is very nice.  It shows up more opaque and stronger against the black polish.  It shows up better than the French White Creme, which is on the last two nails in the picture.

In conclusion I think this would be a great thing for people who are looking to get into stamping but are a little worried about not being able to do it. It is something that takes practice but a few short tips I have for beginning with this set:

  • buff the stamper with a file before you begin to prep it.
  • I would reccomend using an old gift card for your first time, it is just easier to get all the excess polish off.
  • work fast and have the clean stamper
  • have polish remover/acetone on hand to clean the stamper and plate after every use
  • It takes practice, and once you get the perfect image on your stamper you will be so excited to put it on your nail!
Again it only cost me $6 at walmart for the pink stamper set with white polish, and you can see the results above. :)

Hope this was helpful to anyone!

Rainbow Fish Nails- Purple Crumpet Fairy Challenge

The Purple Crumpet Fairy Challenge this week was animal print.  well... I didn't want to do the normal cheetah or zeebra print.  So I decided on using my Red Angel Plates and the fish scale design on it.  This is what I came up with, and it is AWESOME!

Its a Rainbow Fish!

What I used:
Color Club - Cold Metal (from the foiled collection)
Essie - Shine of the Times
Finger Paints - Motley
Finger Paints - Sparkle Top Coat
Finger Paints - Twisted
(*then I added Seche Vite top coat to speed up the process and so I could stamp*)
Red Angel Stamp RA111 with Wet N Wild Black Creme stamped on.

This is what it looked like before the stamp.

And another pic of the Amazing fish scale design. :)

Hope you enjoyed this as much as I enjoyed it as well! :)

Phantom of the Opera Nails!

Ok, so ALL of my friends know that Phantom of the Opera is my ALL TIME favorite movie. (even my sweet 16 was phantom themed, and my puppy is named Raoul.) And this past summer my awesome boyfriend took me to see it on Broadway! :)

Today I have Phantom of the Opera nails. I thought they were needed since I got my Konad M73 yesterday! I have been dreaming about this manicure ever since I first saw the plate, and it doesn't disappoint. :)

I used Sinful Colors Snow Me White as the base.
Wet N Wild Black Creme as the music stamp and the black accent for the mask.
LA Colors Red Striper for the red rose.
Color Club Perfect Mol-Ten as the stem and leaves of the rose.

I absolutely love this. :) I Don't want to take it off!

New Stamping Plate M73

I would just like to say that my mom is also amazing. :)  She got me this awesome Konad plate, M73!  It is the one with musical notes on it and I am super excited to have this one now, because I have been dreaming about doing a Phantom of the Opera mani, and I am just so excited. :)

Here is the plate:

Here is my first time using the plate, How awesome is this? These are my sisters nails, because I wanted to use the new plate, and didn't want to take off my current polish, so she let me do it on hers. :)

I absolutely love this stamping plate, I don't think I can say that enough.

I used 2 coats of Sinful Colors Snow me White, and stamped on Wet N Wild Black Creme.  Then of course topped it off with Seche Vite.

LOVE IT!

The perfect White and Black

I found my perfect white and black.

My perfect black is Wet N Wild Ebony Hates Chris which I have used as a base in many of my nail tutorials. It coats in one perfect coat. I absolutely love it. I don't think I have stated how much I love it before, but it is my go-to black. I didn't use it in this post though, I just wanted to share that it is my favorite black.

My new favorite white is a white that I picked up on clearance at Rite Aid for 99 cents and it has not let me down.  My new favorite white, and also the white I have for you in todays Mani is Sinful Colors Snow Me White.  It covers perfectly in two coats(although I need to buff my ridges out. Its that time again lol)

I have found an amazing black to stamp with, Wet N Wild Black Creme.  I had read on a few other blogs that it was good for stamping, and I wanted to try it out myself.  I used an intricate lace stamp design, which I wasn't able to pick up with other colors, to see if this black really was the real deal, and lo and behold IT IS.  Who knew that you didn't have buy an expensive black polish to stamp with when Black Creme is only 99 cents and is amazing?

I will go ahead and show you this really cool mani. Hope you enjoy!

So in this mani I used Sinful Colors Snow me White and Wet N Wild Black Creme as the stamp, with a stamping plate that I got from the set at Rite Aid.

Comparison Post!

Duochromes!

So today on PolishAholics Anonymous I posted a pic from my day 6 nails which is the Cosmetic Arts Dupe for Color Club Alias(Which you can see here).  Someone asked how it compared to Hard Candy Beetle, and I wanted to show a comparision for you!

They are both really awesome duochromes who's awesomeness really comes out in the shade.

Here is the bottle shot!  The best angle was from the base of the bottle, because you could see all the amazing duochromeness!

On the Left is Hard Candy Beetle, and on the Right is Cosmetic Arts Dupe of Color Club Alias

Glitters!

Another Comparison I have for you today is rainbow hex glitters! The three I have are Wet N Wild - Party of Five Glitters, Claire's Bedazzled, and Ulta's Pinata-yada-yada.  My Pinata-yada-yada is half empty but I was still able to get a good picture to show the difference in color.

Up first is Wet N Wild's Party of Five Glitters.

Next up is Claire's Bedazzled.  I think this one is my favorite.  It is like a rainbow in a bottle.

And Last but not least, Ulta's Pinata-yada-yada.  This was the first lippmann dupe that i owned, but I just couldnt stop buying these types of glitters.    This bottle was half empty because I have used it quite a lot and I also Used it for frankening.

The Original was Deborah Lippmann - Happy Birthday

The three most well known Dupes are:
Milani - Gems
Ulta - Pinata Yada Yada
Wet N Wild - Party of Five Glitters

Other Notable glitters:
Claire's - Bedazzled

NOTD

This morning I decided I wanted to do a black matte, but not just any black matte. I wanted to do an awesome black matte. wanna see what I came up with?

Of course you do! because its awesome. :P

I know... glitter on my cuticles.. but it comes off in the shower...

Anywho, back to these awesome nails. I used Seche Base(so it doesn't stain), 2 coats of Wet N Wild Ebony Hates Chris, I concentrated some Ulta Pinata-yada on the base and placed the others around it, and then I used Essie Matte About You in two coats to give it that extra something.  And that extra something is awesomeness.  ok enough talking and on to more picture spam! (I got a little carried away with my camera. :)  )

What do you think?  Let me know in the comments!
