Barielle Brilliant Colors Summer Collection!

*Product sent for review*

Today I have for you the Barielle Brilliant Colors Collection! These are a set of 5 creams with opaque coverage.  Many of these polishes cover in one coat, some covered in 2.  Overall i am pleased with this collection!

First up is Straight A Coral .  This polish is a beautiful bright coral polish. it covered in 1 coat.  One coat perfection. The bightness of this color went very well with my skintone, and was very flattering on my nails.  This one was my absolute favorite from the collection! It almost glows on my nails.

High Marks Purple was a great 1 coater as well.  This purple goes well with the collection, and has great opaque coverage. It is a very pretty deep violet.

Head of the Class Green is a really nice green.  It has a bit of a teal undertone, but is still mainly green.  I liked this one alot, and the formula was good.

Smarty Pants Pink is what i would definitely define as a baby pink. This type of pink is not my favorite, but it looks nice on my nails. The formula is a nice creme. a bit thick, but covered in 2 coats.

Magna Cum Laude Turquoise  this one was my least favorite color in the  collection. It stained my nails blue after 1 coat of basecoat and only 5 minutes on my nails.  This is the second barielle that has stained my nails blue.  There are also other brands of polish this color that stain nails as well, it is something to do with the pigment in this polish.  Just beware of the fact that it stains. The formula was not bad, it covered in 2 coats.

These polishes retail for $8 each, or you can purchase the set for $25 on the Barielle website!

Barielle Summer Brights collection!

Today I have for you the Barielle Summer Brights collection!

First up is Barielle Lemondrops.   This bright yellow was pretty easy to work with, shown here is two coats with a layer of G&Gs HK Girl Topcoat on top.

Barielle Pink Flip Flops is the softest shade of this collection.  I would say this is a baby pink or cotton candy pink, and in the box with the others goes perfectly.

Barielle Cosmic Kiss is a polish that I already owned prior to receiving this collection to review, so it is most likely a re-promote.  It is a gorgeous pink, and in this photo is showing a little more neon than in real life.   Two coats and one coat of topcoat are shown here.

Barielle Sweet Addiction is a green with a slight hint of teal in it.  The formula on this one is tied for my favorite, I could have done only one coat and been happy, but I applied two just out of habit.  Here is two coats with Topcoat.

Finally the last polish in this collection is Barielle Blue Capri.  This and Sweet Addiction are tied for my favorite from this collection.  This is a gorgeous dusty blue that only really needed one coat, but I applied two out of habit.  Shown here is two coats with no topcoat because as you will see in the photo below topcoat somehow changes this polish!

So here in this photo I started to add G&Gs HK Girl topcoat to the top of the nail, and I noticed that the polish began to lose its dusty tint to it, and became more of a vibrant blue! How strange! I still love it though, and with topcoat it is still a gorgeous color.  It just makes it more versatile!

Overall these polishes are all great colors for summer. My favorite polishes from this collection are Sweet Addiction and Blue Capri. The formula on most of these are pretty thick, but not to the point of being unusuable, I will suggest to not sit near a fan when polishing your nails, because that will dry out the polishes faster and they will become goopy, but if you polish your nails normally with 2 coats you should be fine. You can also add thinner if they are too thick for your liking.

These Barielle polishes can be purchased individually from their website for $8 (here) or in the 5 pack soon for $25 (here)

Kiko 290 Swatch

Look at this gorgeous Kiko polish.

Perfect formula: 2 coats; no topcoat
Perfect color: gorgeous magenta

What else is there to say?

I absolutely love Kiko polishes ever since I bought a ton while in London this past summer. I wish I had a store near me, because I would buy them all up.

Digit-al Dozen Blue Week: Model's Own

I have a good excuse why this is late! I promise! You shall find out in my next post. ;)

Here is my final Digit-al Dozen Blue Week post. Who doesn't love Model's Own Indian Ocean? It is a gorgeous polish that is sheer, with a pinky-gold shimmer in an aqua base. It is so gorgeous, and in these photos I layered it over Model's Own Beths Blue.

Bottle Shot:

Here is Model's Own Beth's Blue topped with Indian Ocean.

My Indian Ocean has some random dark glitter in it, which I don't think is supposed to be there. you can see it on a few of my nails in the following pics.

Bff Challenge: Textured

For today's actual Bff challenge, the theme is Textured.  What better to do than a fish egg mani! I chose the pink seed beads because they were a similar  color to the polish I chose.

I used Kiko 290 as the base color of this polish.  This polish will be coming up on my blog on its own soon, and all I can do is rave about how great it is! This is two amazing coats, no topcoat, no cleanup! The brush was just pure perfection to me.  Then I added the seed beads on the ring finger for an accent nail.

BFF Challenge: 80s

Who doesn't love the 80s? Bec also chose today's challenge and I love the 80s.  I googled the 80s and lots of neon prints  came up, so I deided to try and replicate them on my nails.

I used Sinful Colors Snow me White as the base of my ring finger. and I used Color Club Warhol as the pink on the pointer and pinky.  I used Color Club Chelcea Girl for the base of the blue nail.  I also used nail art brushes and acrylic paint to freehand the designs on all of the nails. I really like them. :)

Striping Tape over Acid Wash Nails

For this mani, I used the previous mani (seen here) and used striping tape and Wet N Wild Black Creme to create the design. I really love using striping tape, you can create so many cool designs.  :)

The colors used in the base are: Illamasqua Poke, Zoya Bevin, and Color Club Sweet Pea

Acid Wash nails!

Acid Wash nails!  I've seen a couple of blogs posting photos of their nails using this technique, and I wanted to try it out.

The technique to get this effect is to paint different layers of polish, and use remover on top of the layers of polish to remove the top colors and show the colors beneath.

I used Illamasqua Poke as the base color, then a layer of Zoya Bevin, and a layer of Color Club Sweet Pea from the Blossoming Collection on top.  Then I used Pure Acetone and an ELF makeup brush I got at target and removed some of the layers of polish to achieve this look!

I think this looks so neat! I love it. :)

Freehand Roses

For today's nails I did a freehand Roses. I think these turned out very well.

I used Zoya Skylar as the base.  Then I used Zoya Bevin for the leaves.  I used Color Club Sugar Sheer for the base of the flowers and then I used Barielle Cosmic Kiss for the accent on the flowers.

I really like these. They only took about 20 minutes to do.   :)

The white unicorn is Sinful Colors Snow me White.  The Candy Mountain is Color Club Poptastic, and the black accents are Wet N Wild Black Creme.

Day 12: Creative Lacquer Challenge Neon

For my nails today I did a brushstroke mani. I don't really know the name of this type of manicure, so I am calling it a brushstroke mani.

I used a fan nail art brush to apply the neon colors to my nails.

I used OPI Skull and Glossbones as the base.
I used a neon yellow from Love & Beauty,
a neon pink from Cosmetic Arts(I believe it is a Color Club Warhol Dupe)
and a neon blue from Cosmetic Arts (I believe it is a Color Club Dupe for Chelcea Girl)

What do you think about this?

Day 5: Creative Lacquer Challenge

Inspired by something in your house.

Ok, I'm not going to lie, I did the awesome watermarble nails, and then went on a quest to find something in my house to match so I could use it for todays post.. I know kinda backwards from what we were supposed to do. :P  But I did such an awesome marble and I remembered I had a dress with the same colors, so  I think it should count.  even though I could have done a splatter mani with these colors and made it even closer to my "inspiration."

For this marble I used China Glaze Traffic Jam, Color Club Almost Famous and Color Club Chelcea Girl. I put a layer of white on before I did the marble so that the colors would pop. :)

The Inspiration: A one shoulder "splatter" dress.

More Nail Art!

Today I just wanted to do more nail art with my new dotters, because they are super fun and easy.  I have a set of 5 I bought off of ebay (that I will do a post on, as soon as all of my ebay nail stuff comes in!) and I love them.

I have some pink scroll print nails over black today.

I used Wet N Wild Black Creme as a base, and then used my smallest dotter to draw the design with Color Club Hot Like Lava.

Hello Kitty Nail Art!

Rebecca from Rebecca Likes Nails is hosting a nail art contest!

"THE THEME:
My favorite things! I want you to create a manicure that you think I'd love, using my favorite nail art techniques or themes, which are: gradients, animal print, bows, dots, and Hello Kitty.
Create your manicure using one (or more!) of those 5 ideas, and submit it.
Your design doesn't have to be limited to these ideas but just make sure at least one is included somewhere.
Feel free to go back through my posts and take inspiration from them!"

I chose Hello Kitty and Animal Print!

I did a Cheetah print on all of the nails except the ring finger, and I used dotting tools to freehand the hello kitty head onto my nails.

The colors used:

Color Club Poptastic - background
Color Club Hot Like Lava - inside of cheetah and HK Bow
Wet N Wild French White Creme - HK
Wet N Wild Black Creme - details
and as I stated above I used my new dotting tools from ebay!

What do you think of them? Are you entering the contest?

Pure Ice: Tease

Today I have the cousin to heartbreaker, Tease, which is a pink/blue shimmer in a bright pink base.  This polish is also a Pure Ice polish from Walmart and cost around $2.

After I purchased Heart Breaker and discovered all of its amazing glory, I decided to go back to walmart and see if I could find more Pure Ice Shimmers, and to my luck I came across Tease and another polish I will review later.  I am still hunting for Oh Baby, and as soon as I find it I will snatch it up. ;)

Here is one coat of Pure Ice Tease over Wet N Wild Black Creme.

Look at all that pink-blue shimmery goodness! I think these pure Ice polishes are a great bargain and they are soo pretty! What do you think?
