Rainbow Honey 20% Cooler

Today I have for you an Indie polish I have had my eye on for some time. I am not big into indie polishes, because I find that I can not afford the majority of them, and I am not a super huge fan of glitter bombs.  I have admired Rainbow Honey's polishes for quite some time, ever since I saw her cute labels and packaging, and I was able to get my hands on a mini in a swap I did a few weeks ago.  Everything about this polish is adorable.

Today's mani is China Glaze Electric Beat from the ElectroPop collection, followed by Rainbow Honey's 20% Cooler.  Electric Beat covered quite well in two coats, and is a gorgeous powder blue.  20% Cooler (on the accent nail) is a mix of rainbow glitter with some blue shimmer in the base. I am totally in love with this polish.  The brush was quite tiny in my mini bottle, which made it quite hard to apply polish, I have to admit.  If I were to order from Rainbow Honey I would definitely want the full size bottles, so that the brush is actually full sized. That's my only complaint. (In general though, I am not a fan of mini bottles, so nothing against Rainbow Honey)

Final thoughts: I would definitely purchase from Rainbow Honey, Her packaging is so cute, and the quality of the polish is very good from what I have tried in this mini bottle.

Digit-al Dozen - Kick Off Blue Week

Digit-al Dozen Blue Week! About a month ago, I was approached by Debbie over at The Crumpet to join a small group of 12 that participates in a challenge once a month for five days based on a theme the group chooses. This week is Blue!

To start this week off, I am bringing you a really cool glitter sandwich to kick off Blue Week.

I started this mani off with China Glaze Ride the Waves, which is a very sheer blue jelly polish.  Because it is so sheer it is perfect for jelly sandwiches.  Then I added a layer of China Glaze Lorelei's Tiara. Lorelei's Tiara is a silver micro glitter with larger blue glitter.

This looks amazing, if I do say so myself. The blue China Glaze is very sheer, and perfect for jelly sandwiches.

Teal Tuesdays: Funky French

 Today's theme is Funky French, and I chose to use some teal China Glazes I have!

I used 2 coats of China Glaze Exotic Encounters as the base color, followed by China Glaze Optical Illusion applied diagonally on the tips for a funky french. :)  Optical Illusion has a cool duochrome which is hard to catch on camera, but it is there, and it is cool.

Barielle Swatchfest: Some Like it Hot and Dazzling Diamonds

Today I have for you Barielle Some Like it Hot and Dazzling Diamonds Collections.  I was sent these a few weeks ago, and just got around to swatching them now, for reasons you will see later. 

This post is going to be pic heavy!

In all of the photos I used 2 coats of the color unless stated otherwise. and with the glitter topcoats I only used 1 coat of glitter. 

The collections consist of:
Some Like it Hot Collection: Lilly of the Valley, Sunshine, Life of the Party, Gotta Have Fate, and Surfs Up
Dazzling Diamonds Collection: Stardust, Purple Heart, Cherry Blossom Sparkler, Ebony Rainbow, Pink Diamond

Lilly of the Valley
Up first is Lily of the Valley, a really neat Green shimmer. It looks a bit like it wants to be a foil, but it is not.  It took 2 coats to be opaque for the photographs here. I really like this one.

Stardust
On top of Lily of the Valley I applied one coat of Stardust. Stardust is a white glitter polish that is translucent iridescent glitter in a clear base.  You can see the glitter color better in the bottle in the photo.

Sunshine
This yellow has a hint of shimmer in it, but on the nail it isn't as noticeable as in the bottle(but it is still there). It is a bright sunny yellow, and the name sunshine fits it well.  This is one of my favorites from this collection.

Purple Hearts
This purple glitter polish is my favorite of the Dazzling Diamonds collection, because it is different from the others with larger hex glitters along with small glitters instead of just small glitters.

Life of the Party
A hot pink creme, that is opaque in 2 coats, and is really bright on the nail. I am in love with this one as well. Definitely one of my favorites.

Cherry Blossom Sparkler
This is a small pink glitter in a red jelly base. Over Life of the Party, it only tints the polish a little, and the glitter shows up quite well.

Gotta Have Fate
I first have to say that this photo makes my eyes hurt. The polish is not nearly as neon as the photo is showing, and it leans more coral-y.  I would say that it is a bright color, just not as bright as my photos seem to make them out to be.

Ebony Rainbow
This is a multicolor small glitter polish. I thought it would be more dense than it is, but it is still a pretty color layered. I think layered over a color that isn't so neon would make it pop even more. You can see the glitter in the bottle much better than on the nail because the color is so bright.

Surfs Up
First off, this polish is why I have been waiting to do the review of these polishes. When I started to swatch them a while ago, I ended up making a huge mess, because it STAINS LIKE NO TOMORROW. In the photos below I tried soooooooooo hard not to get it on my cuticles because if I did, I would have been a not-so-happy camper. This is the only color from the collection I will never wear on its own again, for fear of my nails turning blue. It does cover well in one coat, which would make it good for stamping I think, so I may use it for that instead.  This color just caused me un-needed anxiety whenever I removed it! lol. So of the entire collection this is the only polish I do not recommend, because it stains so badly.

Pink Diamond
This pink glitter polish would be awesome on its own.  It would probably only take 3 coats to get full opacity, because the glitter is pretty dense. I layered it over Surfs Up here.

Red Week: Red Snakeskin

These nails look pretty cool, but I don't think you can really tell that it is supposed to be snakeskin.  lol

I began this mani with one coat of Models Own Red Alert, and then applied 2 coats of China Glaze Ruby Pumps and one coat of China Glaze Ring in the Red for a little bit of a brighter red sparkle.  Then I applied a nail foil over the red mani to create the red snakeskin mani. The foil I purchased from Dollar Nail Art and is called Snakeskin.  Snakeskin has a clear base so it can be applied over a color.

Red isn't the first color that comes to mind when thinking of snakskin, but I think it turned out alright I think, even though it doesn't really look like snakeskin. lol

The Foil ate the topcoat badly, so I think I applied 1 coat of HK Girl, then 1 coat of Gelous, and then 2 more coats of HK Girl to even it out and it finally did.

I like this mani, and it certainly does catch the eye!

Model's Own and a Stroke of Brilliance

 Here I have for you two polishes I got during my trip, Model's Own Beth's Blue, which I got from the Model's Own polish store at Westfield London, and Essie Stroke of Brilliance which I got from Klout Perks in the mail during my vacation.

I am in absolute awe of these two polishes together. They are amazing!

The formula on the model's own was nice, it was a tad thick, and you don't want to be sitting near a fan when you apply it, but it was opaque in 1 coat, I applied 2 just to be safe and make sure there were no streaky spots. Then I applied Essie Stroke of Brilliance, which is an awesome blue glitter with small, medium and large hex glitters. I used 1 thick coat and dabbed it on my nails, so I got good coverage.

I think these two colors go great together, the blue in both of them have a slight periwinkle tint to them, and I think the combo looks great.

Patriotic Nails

Yesterday was the Festival of Stars here in my hometown of Ninety Six, South Carolina.  There was a fireworks show and all, so of course I had to have a mani to go along with the Celebration!

I used China Glaze Frostbite as the base of all of the nails, followed by China Glaze Love Marilyn as the accent nail on the ring finger. To finish it off I put a matte top coat, using the NYC Matte top coat.

I actually like how simple this is.

Swatch: Jessica Cosmetics: Oscar Ready

Last weekend I went to TJ Maxx and stumbled upon Jessica Cosmetics Nail Polish.  I had heard of it, and I decided to try them out.  The polishes came in a set with 4 polishes and a topcoat, in a pentagon shaped box.  I purchased 3 different sets that were different, and this polish came from one of them. 

The name of this polish is Oscar Ready, and this polish is FABULOUS.  It is a shimmery/metallic-ish red, with red glitters sparkling throughout. I think this is what I wanted China Glaze Ruby Pumps to be.  This polish covered in TWO COATS and is just gorgeous! I will definitely be wearing this pretty polish again!

And a macro, for your viewing pleasure.  It is just gorgeous, I can't get over it.

Nailventurous Floam!

Ok, if you are into Indie polishes, then you know that a must have is Floam from Nail-Venturous Lacquers. They are really hard to get, because there is so much demand for the polishes. The polish is inspired by the 90's toy Floam which was made by Nikelodeon.

The way I got this polish was through a giveaway from MiMi's Mani's! I totally wasn't expecting to win, and when I got the email, I couldn't believe it! It arrived today, and I had to instantly put it on.

I used a base of 2 coats of Deborah Lippmann Almost Paradise, then 1 coat of Floam, then I used 1 coat of Gelous and 1 coat of Seche Vite to even it out, because this was a hungry glitter.

I have some neat nail art coming up in a bit, so be sure to stay tuned. ;)

Day 14: Creative Lacquer Challenge Funky French

Ahhhh the Prismatic Collection.  These glitters are the hardest thing in the world to photograph.  I never wanted them from seeing all of the swatches, but when I saw them in person I had to get them. 

I used China Glaze Prism from the Prismatic Collection for the funky french.   I really hate glitters, because they are such a pain to remove.  this one was no exception, it was a pain in the rear to remove, but it is just so pretty it was worth it.
 The stamp used for this funky french is from the Cheeky Set CH23

Kleancolor Chunky Holo Purple

 I have Kleancolor Chunky Holo Purple for you today! How gorgeous is this polish? I keep seeing all of the Clarins 230 dupes and this is the closest thing I have to it, and it is nowhere near what it even looks like. lol. but it is so pretty it satisfied my appetite for color morphing glitter :)

I used 2 coats of OPI Grape Set Match, and then 2 coats of Kleancolor Chunky Holo Purple. 

and a bajillion pictures to get you drooling. :)

Barielle: Cosmic Kiss and Starchild

Pink and Sparkly.  The perfect girly combination.  Barielle has released 90 new shades, and I have 2 of them to show you today.  You can check them out and purchase them here.


Up first is Cosmic Kiss.  Two coats and this beautiful pink is opaque. 

And then we have Starchild.  holographic glitter. you can't go wrong! This is just one  coat.

She used Ulta-mate Holiday from China Glaze which was an Ulta exclusive for  christmas 2011. How cute is that! she even posed for the picture with Seche Vite. lol.

Glitter Sandwich

This week in PaA the theme was Glitter Sandwich.  After an epic fail, I decided to try again with one of my OPI Sorbet polishes, and the results are amazing.

I used 2 coats of OPI Too Hot Pink to Handle from the Texas collection as the Jelly.  The application of this polish is perfect.  It is really shear which made this perfect for this glitter sandwich.

For the Glitter I used Wet N Wild Spoiled Shuffle The Deck.  Then I added one more coat to make it a sandwich.  Look how gorgeous this came out.

Black Knight Layering Experiment

I couldn't decide what to wear today when I got home from school, because I got my amazing nail mail from my Secret Valentine! I got Butter London the Black Knight and Nostalgic Lacquers Rio from my Secret Valentine, and they are sooo amazing that I couldn't decide which to wear first...

Soooo I did what any rational polish addict would do...  I layered them!  This is one coat of Wet N Wild Ebony Hates Chris, One Coat of Black Knight, and One Coat of Nostalgic Nail Lacquers Rio. How gorgeous is this??

I am in love.

I think they go so perfectly together! What do you think?

Monday Mani Challenge: Ombre

So in PAA the Monday Mani challenge this week is Ombre nails.  These are my favorite ombre nails that I have done so I decided to recreate them for this challenge.

I used Color Club Almost Famous as the Base.
Color Club Wham Pow! as the orange.
Color Club Warhol as the pink tips.
And topped it off with KleanColor Chunky Holo Purple glitter!

Here you can really see the green in the glitter show up! The chunky Holo set has an awesome duo-glitter finish.

Jelly Sammich!

Another Purple Crumpet Fairy Challenge!  As I said before it was created by Debbie Crumpet(of The Crumpet) and Claire Gallaugher (of Purple Fairy Dust) in a facebook group!

This week's challenge was to do a Jelly Sandwich.

A Jelly Sandwich is when you paint a layer of a jelly/sheer polish, then paint a layer glitter polish, then another coat of jelly polish.

This is my version of a jelly sandwich!  I used OPI Too Hot Pink to Handle, which is a sorbet from the Texas collection, with a layer of Color Club Sugar Plum Fairy in between, from the Beyond the Mistletoe Collection.
